What is SAP application retirement?

SAP application retirement moves required historical information out of an SAP environment, preserves the context and controls needed for continued use, and decommissions the legacy system when business and technical acceptance requirements are met. 

How is SAP application retirement different from SAP data archiving?

SAP data archiving can reduce data volume while the SAP application remains active. SAP application retirement has a broader end state: remove dependency on the legacy environment while maintaining approved access to the information that must survive it. 

Does all SAP ECC data need to move to S/4HANA?

No. Organizations can move the active data required for future operations to S/4HANA, preserve required historical information in Archive360, and dispose of eligible information according to approved policy. The boundary should be based on business use and obligation, not age alone. 

Can Archive360 support SAP R/2 and SAP R/3 retirement?

Archive360 can be used as the governed destination for required information from earlier SAP environments, including SAP R/2 and SAP R/3. Supported source versions, objects, and extraction methods should be confirmed during solution design. 

How do users access historical SAP information after retirement?
